Honors 6 - Area of a Trapezoid
Hello ladies,
Here is a fabulous YouTube.com clip about finding the area of a trapezoid (and remembering the formula!!).
We'll be covering this topic on Thursday.
See you tomorrow,

Honors 6 Homework - Area of a Parallelogram
Hello girls,
Your homework tonight is in the Gray Workbook, p. 143, #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 10.
For numbers 1 and 2, you can determine the base and height of the parallelograms simply by counting the boxes along the bottom (base), then from the bottom of the shape to the top of the shape (height). Then multiply. Don't forget to put your answers in square units. (Here, since we don't have centimeters or inches, you can just write un2
For numbers 3, 4, and 5, the triangle is shown that gives you the height of the parallelogram (remember today's lesson?). If you'd like a review of what we did in today's class, you can watch this youtube.com video that takes it slowly:
For numbers 9 and 10, you will need to use your division skills. For example, number 9 gives you the height of the parallelogram and the area only. How would you find the base? Let's look at this equation:
Area = base x height
So, fill in what you have:
26 1/2 = base x 6 5/8
You're missing the number you would multiply 6 5/8 by to get 26 1/2. How would you "work backward" to find the base?
The same process works for #10, only you're looking for the height, not the base.
Good luck, and I'll see you in math class tomorrow.

Hello girls,
Click on this link to read the percent word problems and solve them on graph paper. You do not need to print out the page. We will be starting a quick unit on percent as a review before we get into probability.
